"Chocolate, the Dark Temptress"
Not to be outdone, the West Coast also offers its own hedonistic chocolate experience with Spa Radiance in San Francisco, which boasts a decadent chocolate facial treatment, the ingredients of which come from Hungary and have been customized for the spa. Owner Angelina Umansky was inspired by the book of her grandmothers chocolate recipes which she incorporated into the customization. "The chocolate mixture for the facials gives the skin hydration," Umansky says. In a guilty tone, as if shes sharing an intimate secret, she adds, Its the aroma of the chocolate that puts clients into a state of bliss. The first slather of the mixture hitting the skin tells you this is not an ordinary facial the aroma is rich and the stimulation to the pores is nothing less than intense. A chocoholic might find the experience, dare I say, erotic?
Esthetician and chocolate facial expert Julie Wright carefully smoothes the velvety mixture over every inch of my face and I inhale the opulent fragrance taking over the room I forget shes even there. She notices a smile sneaking across my face and Im sure she has seen this a thousand times over. The spa plans to add five more chocolate scrubs and five masks to the menu.
